Master - Gareth Gwynfor
Magus
Name: Gareth Sion Gwynfor
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Silly
Family Line: Gwynfor
Servant: Enkidu
Face Claim: Sting Eucliffe (Fate/Zero)
Appearance: Standing at a bold 6'4" with a well-toned body Gareth has an imposing figure. His height comes from his strong Welsh background descending back into a clan of warrior-mages who brought magecraft to the battlefield while wearing full armor and wielding large weapons. Naturally most members of his family grow to be tall and training their muscles comes with ease.
Gareth is fair complected like most Northern Europeans. His white skin fairs well in the soft sun of the north, and suffers as he is more exposed. Though he shows some amount of resistance as sun burns are not prevalent with him. His eyes are a deep blue like a blessed pool of water. Unlike many individuals his eyes are not a gateway to the soul or the mind. They appear as a wall of determination that no amount of force could break. Betraying nothing of himself, his eyes simply look upon others with confidence.
Completing his European look Gareth's light blond hair often appears windswept and slicked back. It forms random spikes that go in all directions except in his face. His hair is medium length though it is difficult to discern this from its usual appearance. The closest indicator would the hair that hangs down to the back of his neck reaching just a bit past his ears.
His well-toned body tells many stories. The muscles themselves show a lifetime of hard work as every inch of him seems to be developed through exercise. Gareth sports an "8-pack" set of abs and other iconic muscular features. His body also tells stories of experience and danger with many scars appearing on his form. A slash across his back from rapier, a gouging mark on his left bicep, a burn mark on his leg. Many scars from his intense training to become a tool of the Mage's Association. The most noticed would be the scar on his face that passes by his right eye. A reminder of his battle with his master. An artificial scar is shown proudly on his left shoulder. The tattoo is of his family crest, not his thaumatergical crest mind you, that has been with the family since medieval days.
As for clothing Gareth likes to wear simple clothing under complex clothing. His common attire consists of baggy pants and tight shirts. His shirts are skin tight and wrap to his form. They lack sleeves leaving his arms bare. It reaches down a bit past his waist and wraps up around his neck some. The pants reach his ankles and fit much more loosely than the shirt. Over these he wears a vest with a fur collar that goes around his neck and reaches down and around his back. His arms from past his elbows to his fingers are covered by long gloves with runes carved onto their surfaces. His pants are also obscured by a strange combination of chaps and boots. They fit loosely much like his pants and turn into boots as they reach his feet. The boots have runes carved into their surface as well.
Personality: An Enforcer is meant to be the opposing hand of the Mage's Association. Disciplined, Tactical, Efficient, Deadly. Just as it is with the Executors, the Enforcers are the personal strike force meant to apprehend and even kill those who oppose the Mage's Association. Gareth is an embodiment of these values, yet he isn't. These personalities are like a two-sided coin, but Gareth's coin has been warped where the sides blend together.
Gareth is described to be silly by most individuals who come across him. His attitude and behavior screams slacker and his responses to others beckons the nickname of Class Clown. His lack of interest in what others, including authority, think of him brings a laid back atmosphere. Whenever he's not on duty he's being lazy either by napping or by kicking back. Many would agree that Gareth isn't Enforcer material by first glance.
Despite his silly tendencies Gareth has a very serious side that comes out when he's working toward a goal. He can be a team player easily working with anyone who seeks the same prize as he does. When alone he has shown aptitude toward stealth and espionage. His track record is in the green meaning he has a high success rate. His fighting potential is only exceeded by his potential to fight.
Gareth is always seeking a new challenger whether on a mission or on his down time. If he learns that someone is getting strong or is building a reputation he will seek them out. When the challenges slow he takes the opportunity to train and become stronger for the next challenge. Life is one big challenge that you have to work your hardest to beat in the eyes of Gareth.
Another part of Gareth that differs strictly from other magus is his opinion on Servants. Most group Servants in the same category as familiars, often treating them as if they are they creator's. Gareth cannot bring himself to treat another human in such a manner. No one is below him and only the strongest are above him. Thus he refuses to use the term Servant to describe his Servant, but something along the lines of Partner or just their name. In the same respect he refuses to be called Master, opting to be called Partner or by his name as well.
History: Gareth was born to a small manor in the Gwynfor's name in the vast countryside just off of the coast in Northern Wales. The manor had many smaller houses around it forming something reminiscent of a small village. Here not only did Gareth's primary family live, but also nine other families cells with the name Gwynfor. Only the heads of each family lived in the manor while the other members took up residence in one of the smaller homes orbiting the manor. The grounds were nearly thirty kilometers from the nearest settlement where some supplies like medicine and clothing were gathered. All else was created on the grounds including much of the food from farming, ranching, and magic.
Gareth was born into the third family of the Gwynfor name. The numerical rank of the family shows both how powerful its members are and how close to the origin that they are. The family retains many of the values of ancient times mainly those about strength and power being the most important. They are still very much a warrior clan. Children are raised learning martial skills such as fighting and weapon usage. They also work in the fields and ranches regardless of rank as it builds muscle and instills values. Often the children are taught to spar and duel one another for entertainment when work is lessened. The children are taught to be both brutal and competitive.
Gareth's family life was centered around his mother. Unlike most of the heads, his father rarely came out of the manor to see his family thus he had to look to his mother for parental roles. He had a brother and two sisters as well. One sister and his brother were younger leaving the other sister to be older than him. Without a father figure in the home he acted as the 'Older Brother' being a masculine for his family. He worked hard to help his family out both on the farm and during fights. When he turned fourteen he received an unusual offer after beating the main family's son in battle four times without a defeat. He was offered a chance to live in the manor.
He was unsure whether to accept the offer or not. The prestige gained from living in the manor would be a huge ego boost, but that would involve leaving his family like his father. To try to rope him in he was given a tour of the manor. Most do not even see the inside of the large home. There were many bedrooms and bathrooms. The basement went down three sub-levels where items were stored and magecraft was practiced. To finish the tour he was offered a place in the dining hall where he ate with the other heads. He recognized most of the members of the dinner. There were others he had no knowledge of there as well. His place was next to his father.
The head of the first family offered a toast in Gareth's name. He spoke of how his son lost his chance to be the heir, but in doing so the true stronger heir was found. He learned that the recipient of the Gwynfor Family's Thaumatergical Crest was to be decided soon and for a while it was the First Head's son. Gareth was unsure what to think of all this, but his resolve was decided when he father smiled down on him.
"Good work son. One of my children was worth the time."
Gareth rose up and left the manor. The heads chased after him confused by what set him off. As he made it onto the grounds his father chased right behind him. He was extremely upset throwing curses and demeaning Gareth. Without a word Gareth spun on his heels and slugged his father on the chin knocking him to the ground.
"Don't you dare talk to me as if you were my father," he said holding back tears, "All this time I wondered why my father hadn't come home and I learn it's because he thought they weren't worth his time! You are no father of mine!"
News traveled all across the grounds. The next week was silent. No one spoke outside of hushed whispers and not a soul entered or exited the manor. On the eighth night after the incident in the dead of night, there was a knock on Gareth's door. The elderly man, along with several family heads, who sat at the head of the table were there. They spoke to Gareth offering their apologies for his father's actions. The man, who turned out to be the current holder of the family crest, humbly begged him to become the next heir to the family. He was still unsure, but his mother insured him that this was for the best.
Gareth spent the next few years learning magecraft and how to use his magical circuits. Once he reached his potential he was sent off to the Sea of Astray to learn more. The next several years were difficult for Gareth as he learned in a school setting where competition was over academics rather than conflict. It took some getting use to. He was never the top of his class, but he did make good enough marks. Where he excelled was active application of magecraft defeating all challengers in combat. The area he excelled in the most was the school of runic magic. He learned not only the Scandinavian runic system, but also the Chinese talisman system. It seemed as though these forms of magic came naturally to him.
As part of his graduation requirements he was tasked with discovering something of value to the magical community. This could be finding an artifact, developing a theory, or discovering a new or improved form of a magecraft. Gareth trained in the Swedish Alps where he trained his body and spirit. There he developed his own personal style of magecraft that bordered on gravity manipulation. He dubbed it "Crash" magic. Though no one else was capable of benefiting from his discovery they still gave him excellent scores. He was a full-fledged magus now.
Immediately after graduation he received notice from Clocktower. A cordial invitation to become an agent of the Mage's Association, an Enforcer. He went to Clocktower to learn more about the Enforcers. After seeing them in action he wished to join their ranks. Thus his life as an Enforcer began. In the short four years he had been working with them he had been on numerous missions ranging from detaining those with Sealing Designations, retrieving artifacts, and even working with the Church's Executors to exterminate a vampire. In the past year his missions have been halted as he was chosen to be one of the representatives of the Mage's Association in the latest Holy Grail War. Thus he was trained to boost his already considerable magical abilities further. He worked with some of the association's best families who taught him techniques to boost himself. He even spent some time with the Barthomeloi's and their heir.
Finally deemed ready he was sent to Fuyuki City with a limited budget to participate in the Holy Grail War. He was charged with summoning his own servant and thus had to find his own artifact. He had read the "Epic of Gilgamesh" while training at the Sea of Astray and wished to summon Enkidu as a Servant. When he learned that there was a supposed exhibit in a museum that had the actual horn of the Divine Bull Gareth planned to steal this to summon his servant. However, the day before he was to steal it the horns disappeared. Back to square one Gareth is attempting other methods to secure his Servant.
Battle Info
~ Unparalleled Street Fighting Skills :: After countless fights Gareth's style is somewhere in the ball park of a combo of Muay Thai, Savate, and Juijutsu. He has no formal training in any of these arts, but after fighting against and beside fighters who use these he has developed his own ability. This makes predicting his next move difficult because his skills fall more into the category of 'Street Fighting' and adapting to his opponents movements and strikes to deliver his own.
~ Monstrous Prana Reserves :: Gareth was born with a large number of magical circuits. Obviously he is unable to match some of the more royal families in sheer number. He still possesses a massive amount of prana that rivals some from the royal families through intense training and undergoing processes to make him more suitable. By simply activating and 'flexing' all of his circuits simultaneously he can create a suppressing effect that feels like thickening the atmosphere.
Magical Spells:
~ Reinforcement :: Reinforcement works by pouring prana into an object to push its basic properties and attributes to their highest potential. This magic not only works on objects, but also works on humans increasing their basic capabilities as well. Sara is well versed in this magic for the purpose of reinforcing her own body. This magic allows her to move much like shinobi were said to in fiction, ie. leaping through trees and across rooftops. She was also taught to use this magic to boost her hand to hand combat capabilities to the point of it being almost subconscious. Reinforcing weapons or objects are not entirely uncommon either.
~ 'Crash' or Force Manipulation :: In essence this magecraft works by altering the force of an action multiple times over. The effects can be on both sides of the spectrum, but decreasing force produced by himself isn't necessary and decreasing the force of others is far too difficult. Thus this magecraft is primarily used to vastly increase the force produced by Gareth. This magecraft could be compared to Gravity Manipulation, but it works instead of producing gravity or altering gravity it simply amplifies the kinetic energy produced. When stimulated it creates a 'Force' much like gravity produced by a large celestial body.
This magic is also multilevel allowing it to be used as a Single-Action to a maximum of a Three-line spell. He can increase its power by forcing more magic into or incantating as he strikes. For a Single-line he simply has to say something akin to "Crash!" to give his magic a visible boost. The Three-line incantation requires some time, but the power boost is enough to level buildings.
~ Scandinavian Runes/Armanen Runes :: A type of Magecraft originated in the old Scandinavia, symbols that once inscribed automatically realize mysteries accordingly with the meaning that they represent. Possessing mechanics similar to the Thaumaturgical Crests, their usage is unpopular within the Mage's Association. It is possible to affect a target with a Rune inscribed at distance, but the rate of success is low with the target that possesses Magic Circuits due the effect of Resistance. In this case, the Rune must be inscribed directly onto the body. If used in combinations, it is possible to create Bounded Fields with them.
~ Lóng Lì Talisman :: This magic is a memento from Sara's father. The Lóng Lì Talismans were created by the monks of her father's temple. These talismans were inscribed with the names of mystic dragons of Chinese mythology and use magic similar to runes of Scandinavian origin. These talismans need only be infused with prana and adhered to a surface to function. Their effects last as long as they have prana and the amount of prana needed depends on the effect of the talisman. The talismans cannot be removed once placed unless it is completely overwhelmed with prana or the phrase "Lóng Lì Shìfàng" is spoken. After exhausting their prana they combust and burn themselves to ashes thus forcing the user to create more talismans.

In this case, the Rune must be inscribed directly onto the body. If used in combinations, it is possible to create Bounded Fields with them.
- Spoiler:
- -Ansuz, Rune of Signals: This runes causes the surface that the rune is inscribed on to spread into flames. These flames will engulf the target and won't stop until they are burned into ash. The flames are only lightly magically augmented so even mundane water can put them out before they finish their task.
-Berkana, Rune of Growth: This rune is used to track sources of prana using stones as a median. Only the trained eye of the user will be able to follow the trail of stones that leads the way to the source. The process is slow only allowing the user to travel as fast as walking speed to follow the trail.
-Kenaz, Rune of Opening: This rune is used to improve the user's eyesight allowing them to see clearly as if they were using binoculars, similar to the effect of reinforcing ones eyes.
-Eihwaz, Rune of Defense: This rune causes a hardening effect on whatever it is used on. This can be used to increase the physical defense of an object to the point of resisting powerful spells. It can also be used to harden ones own body to grant them extra power behind blows with injuring the user. Blows from these enhanced hits can crack stone.
-Raidho, Rune of Travel: This rune increases the users speed by creating a boosting force to cause each of the user's bounds to easily reach twenty-five feet. It can be used for quick bursts of intense speed that requires a reinforced body to come out without damage.
-Uruz, Rune of Strength: This rune creates an instantaneous boost in one's attack power for a short time. Commonly used to deliver a death blow due to the duration being long enough for only one attack. A punch delivered after using this rune could easily dent metal surfaces.
-Mannaz, Rune of Memory: This rune causes a lapse in memory limited to a twenty-four hour span. Those afflicted will be unable to remember what occurred during that time as if they were asleep. If used on a magus the effects are lessened to just an hour or so due to the element of Resistance. The rune can be resisted completely if the magus is conscious and aware of its use.
-Algiz, Rune of Warding: This rune allows for the channeling of prana into whatever it is placed on. The effects are similar to Reinforcement magic, but also brings out the potential in an object. It can be used to repair broken objects as well.
-Nauthiz, Rune of Restriction: This rune causes intense paralysis of those it is placed upon for a period of five minutes to the point of causing the afflicted to lose complete control of their body. The effects can be lessened by breaking its magic with prana greater than it to the point of absolutely negating it.
- Spoiler:
- -Tianlong, Heavenly Dragon: The Tianlong Talisman, named after the celestial dragon that acts as guardian of heaven, creates a protective dome roughly two meters in diameter. This dome is centered around whatever the talisman is placed on and is fairly sturdy. The dome usually only stands up to one powerful attack before shattering like glass, otherwise it will repel minor strikes and even bullets effectively. The dome is translucent white and yellow.
-Shenlong, God Dragon: The Shenlong Talisman, inspired by the dragon that controlled weather and often appeared in thunderclaps, invokes a response from nature rather than creating its own power. Even on a clear night the talisman draws a thunderbolt in to strike it. The bolt of lightning is mundane beyond the effect of natural lightning. The talisman draws electricity toward it from both man-made and natural sources and accumulates it as a bolt of lightning.
-Fucanglong, Fortune Dragon: The Fucanglong Talisman, derived from the underworld guardian of precious metals and jewels, is meant to be placed on a person and increases their luck exponentially. Even those who are often unlucky will experience average luck with this talisman. The effect is most noticeably when the user is searching for something. It can be described as an invisible thread leading them to whatever they are seeking.
-Zhulong, Torch Dragon: The Zhulong Talisman, created after the solar deity that creates day and night by blinking its eyes and seasons with its breath, bestows an aura with the intensity of the sun. The aura grants warmth in cold environments and resists the effects of weaker ice and frost related effects. Those bestowed with the aura can focus the magic into limbs to create blasts of orange and red fire. This fire lasts only a few seconds and attacks with much more concussive force than ordinary fire. Each blast drains the talisman of one third of its power.
-Feilong, Flying Dragon: The Feilong Talisman, taken from the legend of the winged dragon that flew upon clouds and mist, grants greater speed and jumping capability by both infusing their limbs with magic and cladding the body in wind. Those who are given this power will be able to run and maneuver far beyond normal human capabilities and even greater than effects of reinforcement. Their speed will be difficult to keep up with, their leaps can reach heights of two or three stories, and their landings are cushions by a gusts of wind.
-Yinglong, Rain Dragon: The Yinglong Talisman, derived from the winged dragon often associated with rain and floods, creates large torrents of water upon placement. The talisman spews forth large volumes of water from virtually nowhere until its magic runs out, roughly thirty seconds later. The volume of water is usually around 700 gallons or enough to fill a pond. The water is released in a random manner almost like busting a small hole in the side of an aquarium.
-Chilong, Demon Dragon: The Chilong Talisman, taken from the horned mountain dragon of chinese lore, grants a form of release from wounds and stress. When placed upon an object it will be able to perform at its best until it is reduced to inoperable levels. When placed on a person they will not feel pain from their wounds and be able to move as if they hadn't received them like an adrenaline high. The price for this ignorance of stress is that greater damage. The longer the talisman wielder functions at their best the more their own body is torn apart, often with greater wounds than if they had continued fighting with their initial wounds.
-Panlong, Coiled Dragon: The Panlong Talisman, inspired by the lake dragon who had not ascended to heaven and remained in the bottom of a lake, forces whatever it is adhered to to cease movement. This effect is basically paralysis, but it extends to non-living structures as well such as machines. The effects last roughly fifteen minutes before the talisman runs out of prana. Those with high levels of prana or magic resistance can reduce the time or effectiveness of this talisman all the way to absolute ineffectiveness.
-Huanglong, Vermillion Dragon: The Huanglong Talisman, derived from the vermillion dragon spirit that represents blessed kings, improves the defensive capabilities of what it is adhered to. The effects allow soft surfaces, such as cloth or flesh, to resist the effects of blades and even withstand strong blunt strikes. The more damage one takes saps the prana within the talisman so if one is taking many hits the talisman will be burned away in a matter of seconds.
-Qinglong, Azure Dragon: The Qinglong Talisman, created after the azure dragon spirit that represents the most compassionate kings, allows those that it is adhered to to regain prana and stamina at a much quicker rate than normal. The side effects of this talisman is drowsiness almost forcing those affected to fall asleep. After a one or two hour nap they will feel absolutely reinvigorated much like the best nights sleep
-Bailong, White Dragon: The Bailong Talisman, named after the white dragon spirit that represents virtuous and pure kings, envelops the target in a healing aura. The power of the talisman alone takes a long time to heal, but if it is infused with extra prana, either through an outside or more efficiently an inside source, its healing effects double or even triple. Alone it can heal minor wounds in fifteen minutes, gashes in an hour, and even fractures over night.
-Xuanlong, Black Dragon: The Xuanlong Talisman, taken from the black dragon spirit that represents kings that dwell in the depths of mystic waters, has the opposite effect of the Bailong talisman. Rather than healing whatever it is adhered to, it causes stress and damage. Objects will slowly take damage such as cracks and dents, evidence of stress, before falling to pieces. The effects on people much less potent. It will prevent wounds from healing, such as blood from coagulating/pain from residing, and serves to be much more useful for an already incapacitated opponent. Those who are unhurt will receive feelings of fatigue and weakness making it effective getting the one up on an opponent. Though those with high levels of prana and magic resistance can resist its effects, the battle to defeat the talisman serves the same purpose.
-Hong, Rainbow: The Hong talisman, derived from Hong the two-headed dragon often called the "Rainbow Serpent", creates a bright light that covers an area fifteen meters in diameter. The light doesn't follow the common rules of light and is just as blinding as long as one is within range. As long as nothing blocks their vision of the talisman or what the talisman is adhered to they will become subject to its magic. The light creates flashes through the colors of the rainbow.
-Shen, Giant Clam: The Shen talisman, derived from Shen a shape-shifting dragon of the seas that would create mirages, creates an illusionary zone about fifteen meters in diameter. The talisman creates a spiritual link with the one who placed it allowing them to create minor illusions in the area. The most common is replicas of themselves giving way to the shinobi trick "Kage Bunshin." These illusionary clones cannot interact with anything and are really just projections of the user. Upon contact the physical entity simply passes through the illusion creating no visible difference on their surface.
