Magus

Master - Marielle von Einzbern 825414

Name: Mariele (Maria) Clarisviel von Einzbern
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Family Line: Einzbern Family
Servant: Nursery Rhyme
Face Claim: Makise Kurisu (Steins;Gate)

Appearance: Maria is a young girl far advanced intellectually than her years, though this is all an illusion. She appears to be just around sixteen years old, but is actually coming up on her twenty-fifth birthday. A byproduct of using potions of longevity while still so young. Often struck with disbelief when they learn this girl is one who has become a master in fields of Chemistry, Biology, Neuroscience, and Physics.

Upon first glance Maria appears to be right in the middle of high school. She's small and delicate given her petite body type. She stands at a modest five feet two inches. She is thin leaving few shreds of body fat leaving her with little to work with when it comes to curves. She has small hands often dwarfing those of her male colleagues. Her skin is noticeably pale from her many hours spent indoors. With thin arms and legs Maria lacks strength, but can is surprising quick in a footrace. Though she isn't nearly in shape after staying inside most of the time. What she lacks in endurance she makes up with dexterity.

Most noticeable is Maria's long red hair. She has grown her hair out for years, but hasn't let it get much longer in the passing months by having it trimmed periodically. Her deep scarlet hair hang just past the middle of her back and is combed twice daily to keep it from tangling. Forming a soft V-curve, her bangs hang toward the center keeping obstructions out of her eyes.

Maria's passion as a scientist is evident in her gaze. Her deep blue eyes that are full of compassion and kindness change to pools of avarice and discovery. Her piercing gaze is always aware of detail and seeks to find the truth within all that she sees. Her sharp eyes show no mercy or remorse while she is working or experimenting. However outside of the high stakes world of magecraft and science Maria's soft gaze shows an affection for those around her that is often lost when searching for truth.

Maria's common attire fits all roles being every day wear, scholarly clothing, and formal wardrobes. She wears a white button up shirt for nearly all occasions. The shirt has long sleeves and collared. It sits loosely on her hinting that it may be a size or two too big. A red tie loosely hangs around her neck at all times. She either wears small black shorts or a tan short skirt depending on her mood. Her legs are commonly complimented by a pair of hose. Her shoes of choice for comfort and functionality are brown loafers. Above all this is usually a lab coat that trails down to her knees. She loves the professionalism of proper scientific attire. However, if she's just going out she like to wear a brown jacket that she lets hang on her arms without touching her shoulders.

Personality: Maria is always a human first, though that is a thin line that may have to be crossed someday. In a mundane environment Maria is a cheerful girl with a devious look in her eyes. She is all smiles and isn't afraid to be honest. Whenever something catches her interest her eyes always seem to be scanning for every detail. When she's interested she likes to be the head of the conversation guiding the participants toward topics that provide the most information. Despite this no one seems to mind her and some would go as far to say that she makes the atmosphere more positive and in depth.

Maria has many guilty pleasures that she doesn't like part with. Her most mundane one would be visiting image and message boards on the internet that are not exactly mainstream. This is where she can educate the ignorant masses and explore more subculture ideas that she may overlook otherwise. Outside of trolling on the internet, Maria has an otaku interest in anime. She does whatever she can to prevent people from knowing this about her. Even further into Maria's guilty pleasures is her hobby of cosplaying. She has a digital photo album locked and encrypted full of cosplay photos of her past works. She may be prone to acting violent or as a 'tsundere' toward anyone who knows these secrets, or if she has an attraction toward them.

The path of the scholar through education and science. This path has called her since her youth to learn the secrets of the world through theories and study. Maria loves the feeling of lab coats, the sterile smell of a clean lab, and the feeling of spending long hours experimenting. She finds the mundane sciences much worthier of praise than most magus think. Magic never founds the secrets of how the human body works, how the earth moves and floats in space, or even how the star that provides life manages to produce light.

Even after immersing into the mundane sciences Maria studies the magical arts that run the secret world of magus. As an Einzbern she is proficient with alchemy whose properties work much like chemistry. She can spend long hours studying ancient tomes and practicing spells for the sake of getting just a little bit ahead. She finds the magical arts much more dynamic and feels a since of duty by advancing at them, but dislikes how she cannot collaborate with others often and her works are often shrouded in secrecy.

As both a scientist and a magus Maria combines the best of both worlds. She is a prodigy when it comes to magecraft gaining the eye of the Mage Association. At the same time she's a genius who excels in multiple fields of study gathering scholars with her journals. Maria has a dream of combining modern science and technology with the ancient secrets of magic to reach a promised land. Her idea is radical to say the least, but it could lead to a new age of magi.

History: The Einzberns have suffered long before the first Holy Grail War. The loss of the Third Magic devastated the family. Their impressive consistency of high number of good magic circuits and natural talent with Alchemy kept them in the top three magus families with the Tohsaka and Makiri (Matou). Even still they tried their hardest to re-obtain the Third Magic. Their failures began to pile up. In the end the Einzberns enlisted the assistance of the other two magus families. Together they set up a giant thaumatergical ritual. This ritual is the cause of the Holy Grail War. The Einzberns, despite their fierce determination and sheer desire to bring the Third Magic back into their hands, have never even gotten close to winning the Holy Grail War. Even more detrimental to the family it seemed that the family may be lost after the Fifth Holy Grail War. With the near loss of Ilyasviel von Einzbern and with her the family's thaumatergical crest. The Einzberns feared the worst for years to come.

After the loss of Ilya, the last Justeaze style homunculus, the family was without a suitable heir for generations to come. The Einzberns were unable to produce even a half competent magus at least by standards of participating in the Holy Grail War. The creation of another successful Justeaze style homunculus was not producing the fruits that Irisviel or Ilyasviel had. The Einzberns even went as far as to forfeit their spot in the Sixth Holy Grail War because no suitable magus were available. To avoid the inevitable embarrassment of dishonoring themselves yet again they passed on their seals to another family. They fought under their banner, but had no ties to the Einzberns at all. Not even fighting for them similar to Kiritusugu Emiya had in the Fourth Holy Grail War. They vowed to win the next war, perhaps they said this out of spite or out of pride. Turmoil erupted within the family as they feared what may occur if they could not live up to the promise.

Tides changed with the birth of Mariele Clarisviel von Einzbern. She was born with far more active magical circuits than any member of the family had in nearly a century. She was brought up immediately to become the harbinger of Einzbern glory. A strict regimen was forced upon her as she was brought up to be a magus. Her parents, Claire and William von Einzbern, did what they could to teach her what any child needed to know. Morals, etiquette, love, and compassion. It wasn't long before Mariele, or Maria as her parents called her, was taken away from her parents to avoid unnecessary distractions. They raised her to care only about the Einzbern family, even ignoring her own emotions for the family.

Maria was taught Alchemy as any sensible Einzbern would be. Even at the young age of five she was forced to memorize alchemic compounds and elements far beyond a normal child's education. Her natural talent combined with these high expectations molded Maria into the genius the Einzbern's needed. She learned various potion recipes and worked with metals. The Einzbern's use precious metals similar to how the Tohsaka's work with precious gems. Maria found herself fond of steel and titanium rather than the traditional gold and platinum much to her elder's distaste. As her talents progressed the teachings of her elders became more limited. When they became satisfied with her foundations they sent her to Clocktower where the greatest minds of the magus community would shape her.

Needless to say after so many years of the Einzbern's lack of progressive results they were skeptical of Maria's abilities. She was thoroughly tested to see how much of the rumors were speculation and fact. They found that Maria lived up to expectations created from the Einzbern's boastful words. She was exceptional at Alchemy, as any Einzbern would be, but that she had an amazing growth rate that would allow her to learn anything she put her mind to. It was rare to see that she was capable of using all elements, but the price she paid to use all of them was not being particularly advanced with any. Despite being unable to gain the title "Average One" Clocktower were pleased to allow Maria into the world of Magecraft with just as many hopes and expectations as the Einzbern family.

Her classes were broad at first encompassing various elements of Magecraft to see what she had the most talent for. It wasn't surprising that she excelled in Mineralogical Studies, but she also seemed capable of other types of Magecraft like summoning. She spent the following years in focused courses that pushed her talents to the limit. When Maria had first arrived at Clocktower she hoped somewhere deep down that life would be different than at home. It became clear early on that nothing had changed excluding location.

Her goal became clear. Run away somewhere else where she could find freedom. After excelling in all of her classes and meeting all of the requirements to begin her own research she asked to be transferred to Atlas. She believed that the atmosphere of Alchemy might give her the much needed vigor to lift her mood. Plus the silent hope that things might become different at Atlas fueled her desire.

Her first days at Atlas were sunny and prosperous. They didn't demand any mandates on her or place large burdens on her shoulders. They asked that she feel no remorse in asking for any resource and that they hoped their facility would be everything she had hoped for. Her new found 'freedom' inspired her to work hard. She attended all sorts of lectures and learned what she could about their Alchemy. This lead to her inevitable decline in her hopes for Atlas. At first she was perplexed of their theories on how the process of Alchemy worked rather than working on producing results. This caused her to reflect inward. She didn't have to learn the thaumatergical process of Alchemy due to her sorcery trait. It didn't take long for her to come to a conclusion after forcing herself to learn the thaumatergical process. She became upset with their silly notions of how Alchemy works as if it were some kind of cosmic force beyond humans comprehension.

It lasted only three months. Maria dropped from Atlas leaving the facility behind as she decided to go renegade for a while. She departed to America with funds taken from her Einzbern account and using small bits of Magecraft to get through some sticky situations. She settled in Stanford, California where she used some of her family's prestige to get enrolled. Though her knowledge of the mundane academia was severely limited so she first went to a vocational school for basic education. It took only a year of personal studies while vaguely applying herself in class to become ready for college. Following up in Stanford University, Maria went through three years of courses focusing in various sciences and technology. She did not accumulate enough credits to graduate with any sort of degree, but the knowledge proved useful for Maria.

Now seventeen years old Maria returned home for the first time in nearly ten years. After disappearing from Atlas four years prior the elders were both ecstatic and infuriated at her nonchalant homecoming. She blew them aside claiming that they were of no more use to her. Maria privileged herself with a much due visit to see her parents. They asked her tales of her trip and stories of her times in class. She was happy to tell them nearly everything excluding her short trip to America. Despite her efforts the elders and other members of the family pushed hard for her to begin independent work.

It began slow. She started slow working with potions and such. Her progression moved toward potions of rejuvenation which she began drinking immediately. The elders urged her not to for she would remain in her early youth for many years to come, but she didn't mind. As her research continued she created a series of Justeaze-style homunculi that exceeded all previous models produced since the Fifth Holy Grail War. Shortly after she displayed her displeasure with this model of homunculi and their flaw system. Immediately she began research for a new homunculus. They possessed the ability to age, though at an accelerated rate, and their flaws are much more minimal than in the previous system. Alice would be the first homunculus of this model.

Without wasting a minute she immediately began research on her own personal creation. A mystic treasure lost long ago. After encroaching upon the work of Faust, Maria moved toward the greatest master of alchemy there ever was. It took months of research to create such an artifact and even then it would be only a knock-off of the original. Her first Mystic Code was born, Nicolas Flamel's Philosopher's Stone.

Unfortunate for the entire Einzbern family, Maria became the target of the Mage's Association. They found her works ground breaking in the fields of Alchemy. Immediately they issued a "Sealing Designation" requiring her to report to the Clocktower post haste to be sealed within forever. It was obvious there was some fear that she may advance too vastly for the world to handle. Instead of the usual sentence of locking them away, Maria was given the opportunity to continue her research under the watchful eye of the Mage's Association and the Enforcers while receiving all of the knowledge and materials she could possibly need.

Maria saw it differently. This was a prison sentence. The world of magecraft wanted to lock her away again. She immediately fled from the Einzbern home for Fuyuki City where an uninhabited mansion laid. The family sent as much supplies as they could before the Mage's Association forbade them from assisting her. It mattered not for all she could ever ask for. Her team of Justeaze-style homunculi were transferred as well as all research material they could scrounge up in such a short time. The mansion went from being uninhabited to an impenetrable fortress in a short time.

The Bounded Field was modified to become more potent at accurately detecting intruders. Several packs of chimera guard the grounds at all times. Dense fog and thick trees block the path and obscure the route to the mansion. Even if someone makes it within the mansion various magic traps exist that target those who don't belong. Many golems roam the empty mansion and her team of homunculi are trained and equip to take out magus. If all else fails Maria has Alice and her Dollhouse to take down any undesirables. Everything within the grounds have a deep mental connection to the Bounded Field so they know where anything is within the field. A small team of Enforcers were sent to retrieve her forcefully, but they couldn't make it past the grounds.

Now away from all of the rules and regulations of her pesky elders and other magus she could conduct research the way she wanted. To bring glory back to her family she hatched a convoluted plan to retrieve the lost Third Magic for the Einzbern's. Magecraft alone could never achieve a True Magic, but Maria had an idea for an entity equal parts Magecraft and Technology. Utilizing all that mankind had to offer to once again go back to the Age of Gods. This plan would never be accepted by any heritage respecting magus. Maria could work in secrecy until she felt it was time to launch her plan.

The only disturbance from then on was a lone young man who managed to elude all of their defenses and nearly enter the inner most sanctum of the mansion. This was the birth of the comradery shared between Maria von Einzbern and Satoshi Inoue. As a pet project Maria taught this absolute mundane man how to be a magus. In the span of five years he became fairly accomplished. It was a stroke of good fortune too as the Seventh Holy Grail War was announced.

Even with her Sealing Designations Maria received her Command Seals. Neither the Church nor the Mage's Association acted to prevent her from participating. She worked hard with Satoshi, but their labors hadn't produced any fruits yet. Maria has hope for Satoshi and this war as a whole. With Alice and Satoshi on her side Maria plans to bring glory to the Einzbern name.

Battle Info

Magical Spells:
~ Alchemy :: The specialty of the Einzbern Family. Maria, like all Einzberns, is exceptional at Alchemy. She uses this form of magic as an intermediate of old fashion potion making, modern chemistry, and all in between. Substances can be altered to change their shape, composition, or even their very substance. Though this form of magecraft is versatile and powerful it serves nearly zero combat use due to the inability of using it on the go.

~ Metal Jewelry :: Maria possesses several pieces of jewelry and accessories that she's had for years. Following an Einzbern tradition, very similar to the Tohsaka jewel magic, Maria inherited several of these rings and such from the elders. Others she made herself. She commonly wears a gold earring which is charged with liquid fire spell, a platinum ring that conjures a powerful wind blast, a silver crossed bracelet that rapidly discharges electricity, and a family heirloom that is a golden cross held by a silver chain with the Einzbern crest imprinted on it. The cross isn't charged with a spell, but just raw magic. Maria's own creations differ from the traditional Einzbern design because they use other, often man-made, metals. She wears her own creations along with her family heirlooms and includes a titanium blend hairpin capable of creating a wind-based shield that can even stop bullets, a ring made of mixed black and white gold that causes temperatures to drop to -20 degrees celsius that can near instantly freeze water, and an electrum (gold, silver, and copper blend) coin charged with an alchemic transmutation that can cause water to form in the nearby atmosphere creating artificial rain. Her finest creation would be a smaller than average zweihander custom created out of titanium, tungsten, and carbon steel. The weapon was craft so that it could be wielded by Maria. It's blade reaches out a fearsome 1.2 meters and has a 0.3 meter hilt. The sword is charge with a destruction spell that only activates when it is swung after calling out "Annihilate" in english. The spell takes the form of a fast traveling wave of energy. The dark blusish-purple wave can only travel about five meters before dissipating into the air and explodes upon hitting a surface. The sword was custom made and the spell was gifted from an old friend. These artifacts are charged daily with more magic from both Maria and Alice. Due to Alice's unlimited magic supply the artifacts are charged much more quietly than by a magus alone allowing for the storage of a year's magic in only a short three month period.

~ Potions :: As a master alchemist, Maria can make various kinds of potions. While some are just concentrated magic others work like liquid spells. Unlike her metal jewelry they cannot be utilized outside of a body. If spilled the liquid just relinquishes their magic. The potions Maria commonly carries around with her are potions of massive magic: grants the drinker a large sum of magic that has to be used quickly before it is diffused; potions of reinforcement: grants the drinker a sturdier body for a few minutes. It works very similar to reinforcement magic; and potions of healing: heals and rejuvenates the drinker of moderate wounds and fatigue.

~ Mystic Code - Philosopher's Stone :: This Mystic Code was the reason why Maria can move about freely. In appearance it resembles what most think of when they hear "Philosopher's Stone." A blood red stone that is about the size of a baseball. This artifact acts as a buffer for Maria's Alchemy allowing her to perform much larger spells and transmutations without using as much of her energy. She can perform spells that might require a team of three normally. The stone takes time to recharge as it absorbs prana from its environment. This includes not only other magus and people, but also from the earth. By itself the stone works as a great healing tool allowing for even a life-threatening wound to be healed in a few minutes. This can only be performed once every couple of days and the stone is maxed out afterward.

~ Mystic Code - Shifter Plates :: This Mystic Code takes the appearance of two metallic gloves. They cover Maria's hands and proceed about another 20 centimeters down her arm. The metal around the palms are one rounded plate that has various designs etched on them. The fingers are short interlocking plates that allow her to retain full motion of her fingers. When the plates are brought together they create a small alchemic field that allows for rapid alteration of the nearby environment. They can alter the shape or position of structures, and can even isolate and accumulate specific elements for construction. The more complicated the action the more prana it takes making for rapid use draining. Maria's signature move would be shifting the ground around her in a circle spanning twenty feet around in 180 degrees.
